Thanksgiving Preview

We are thrilled to be partnering with Common Threads to help bring Thanksgiving to so many families in Fort Bend County! If your children attend an LCISD school, please consider making a donation there! Or you can contact us and we are happy to get your donation over to Common Threads!  Here's a message from our friend Jill from Common Threads to fill you in more...

Okay friends.. As of last week, LCISD has 451 homeless/displaced students. That number does not include the many families that do not qualify but struggle everyday to have food on their tables, much less during a holiday. This includes single parents, working parents, grandparents raising grandchildren or those still struggling after the flood. We have a week off for the holidays and that means these kids won't get their breakfast and lunch at school. While Lunches of Love will be serving their kiddos ( which we are so grateful for) most, if not all of our displaced families , are not served by them. This is a lofty goal but WE ( Common Threads and LCISD Support Services ) want to give a box of food for all of these families and more! This will take the schools, organizations, communities, and churches working together to make this huge feat possible. We will begin collecting food at all of our schools during the week of Oct 24th - 28th. This will include all non-perishables... Canned goods, rice, beans, kid friendly snacks, pasta etc. We want to be able to have pick up available for families on Nov. 17th and 18th at the Old Jane Long gym. Volunteers will be needed to sort and box and possibly deliver. Drop off will be at Common Threads at 710 Houston Street , Richmond Texas. We will also be able to accept cash/checks specifically for food for families. Email me for more info or if you have ideas or want to help.

August Run

After much deliberation & prayer, Kylie's Prayer will now be serving the homeless & struggling friends in fort bend county. It was a very hard decision, but it was getting way to dangerous for us in Houston. This is something we've been wanting to do but didn't know how & it all fell together in the last week... how cool is that?!  This past saturday night was our first outing to our new locations & it went amazing! We had a lot of newbies going with us including our music director of our church & his whole family! He brought his guitar with him & played music while we were serving, it was so wonderful! Our church also provided 20 pizzas, bottles of water, juices, sandwiches & snacks. most of the families we were helping had been displaced by the flooding & had lost everything. Kylie's Prayer got the word out & everything you can imagine that was needed started pouring in by the bucket loads. We even got 8 car seats & 3 strollers that were really needed! We planned on going to 2 motels, the 1st one they had a room for us to come inside to set up which was so incredible. We ended up staying at the 1st place for 2 hours because we were so touched by everyone we met.
When it was time to go to the 2nd place we were  behind schedule & it was already dark so we didn't get to many pictures. The need there was even greater & there were even more children than we were imagining. None of them had shoes & it was so awesome getting to cover up those bare feet in shoes from sole loved. Everyone there was so grateful & we're so glad we went there even though we were so late. We decided that next month we're going to switch the order of the locations & be able to help more with having daylight. We can't wait for this new adventure & see where it takes us. So please just remember there are just so many ways to help.
